I have three orienting goals to my therapeutic approach:

  1. Generating and expanding moments of personal freedom

  2. Cultivating an enhanced understanding of yourself and those around you

  3. Facilitating meaningful and lasting psychological change


There are many roads to a healthier life and part of my initial work will be to collaborate with you on an approach that feels right.  I am primarily a psychodynamic therapist, which means that I focus on better understanding the internal forces and memories that affect our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that can feel alien and operate outside of our conscious awareness.  Addressing and understanding these psychological dynamics can be life changing.

However, I retain an open and integrative therapeutic approach depending on what you need.  I am also experienced in Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT) for Borderline Personality Disorder, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Anxiety or Depression, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), and Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, should we determine that one of these psychotherapies is appropriate for you.
